The Kindergarten Assistant is an anticipated  vacancy for the upcoming 2023-24 school year. This role is a part-time position reporting to the Head of Lower School. The Kindergarten Assistant works closely with the kindergarten classroom teacher to plan and implement instruction to support the social, emotional and academic growth of kindergarten students. The ability to appreciate and work effectively across individual and cultural differences is essential.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to prepare lesson plans following curriculum guidelines and requirements.
• Help prepare instructional materials and implement lessons in the classroom
• Support classroom guidelines and procedures to ensure a positive learning environment for all students
• Participate in faculty and professional meetings, educational conferences, and training workshops.
• Is dependable, patient and organized
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree in related field
• A minimum of one year of experience in an early childhood classroom
• Strong knowledge and understanding of the developmental characteristics of young children
• Ability to communicate, motivate and understand the students’ educational and emotional needs
• Ability to work cooperatively and communicate effectively with other teachers, support staff, parents and members of the community
