Friends' Central School is an independent, coeducational Quaker day school founded in 1845 and serving approximately 815 students in Nursery through grade 12. Located in the Philadelphia suburbs, the School has two campuses. The Middle & Upper Schools are located just outside of West Philadelphia in Wynnewood, and the Lower School is on our Old Gulph Road campus in the heart of Wynnewood.

Upper School French Teacher
Friends' Central Upper School (grades 9-12) seeks a dedicated, enthusiastic teacher of French for a full-time position beginning on July 1, 2022. Qualified candidates will have experience teaching French, a bachelor's degree in a related field, and a demonstrated commitment to working with Upper School students. Candidates who can also teach Spanish are encouraged to apply.
Responsibilities:

Be an enthusiastic teacher and supportive guide for high school-aged students

Continue to develop and coordinate our world language curricula with other faculty

Stay current with best practices in teaching and the teaching of languages, including incorporating technology and differentiating instruction

Determine learning goals and design coherent instruction and assessment accordingly

Have the mindset and ability to work in partnership with parents

Possess excellent communication skills, including through writing

Possess excellent interpersonal skills

This position will also involve being an advisor, so candidates are asked to share any relevant experience in those areas. Upper School faculty are also expected to perform supervisory duties (study hall, lunch, etc.), supervise a club, support student affinity groups, and assist with other programmatic activities that are part of the school day. Candidates who can also coach a sport are encouraged to apply.

Bachelor's degree in French or related field

Ability to teach all Upper School levels of French, from French 1 through French Literature
