Assistant Director of Development
The Out-of-Door Academy seeks an Assistant Director of Development to joint the Development department of a thriving school, soon to celebrate its 100th Anniversary.
Responsibilities
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Assistant Director of Development will be responsible for the following:
- Manage and execute the school’s alumni relations program.
- Develop and manage a communications platform for the Development department, including social media, newsletters, etc.
- Assist with event management including the planning and executing of: the Banyan Ball/Bash, ODA Golf Tournament, Homecoming Picnic, Convocation, Commencement, and additional donor receptions.
- Support the Development team’s efforts to acquire, cultivate, renew, and increase gifts to reach an Annual Fund goal of $1.2M or more.
- Assist with Development data entry, mailings, event logistics and other administrative tasks as needed.
- Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.
Qualifications
Experience, Skills & Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree required.
- Keen attention to detail and the ability to maintain discretion with respect to confidential information is essential. Must possess the ability to be extremely accurate and consistent with data/record keeping.
- Must be willing to work in a fast-paced office, and be able to manage simultaneous priorities effectively, with exceptional judgment and integrity.
- Proficient with technology including a CRM such as Blackbaud, Word, Excel, Apple Mac OS and the Google drive platform.
- Self-directed individual who is solution oriented, flexible and works well with teams and individuals while possessing a positive attitude.
Compensation and Benefits
This is a 12-month full-time exempt position available immediately. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package.

...s in pre-kindergarten through eighth grade. In 1996, a second campus in the Lakewood Ranch area of Sarasota was acquired to accommodate the addition of an upper school. Both campuses have evolved and developed to meet the needs of a growing enrollment as well as to enhance and enrich the experience of every student at ODA. Today, the five-acre Siesta Key campus is home to the Lower School (PK-5), and the 90-acre Uihlein Campus in Lakewood Ranch houses both the Middle and Upper Schools. Facilities include interactive technology in every classroom, a fine and performing arts center with a black box theater, a student and STEM Center, a competition gymnasium with wellness center, a field house, a lighted stadium, tennis courts and a practice complex.
