Dean of Faculty
Position Summary
Randolph School seeks a dynamic, student-centered Dean of Faculty to begin July 2023. The primary responsibility of the Dean of Faculty will be to oversee and coordinate all aspects of the school’s professional growth program. The Dean of Faculty is a new position for the school and is intended to enhance the focused support and nurturing of faculty across a wide range of disciplines and grade levels. The Dean of Faculty will be an inspiring education thought leader with a strong background in research-based PK-12 pedagogy. The Dean will possess exceptional leadership skills, a strong background in teaching and learning, a proven commitment to student-centered education and a demonstrated ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a wide variety of stakeholders. Reporting directly to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs, the ideal candidate will be a respected teacher and colleague that possesses strong relational skills.
Additionally, the Dean of Faculty will be responsible for:
- Fostering a collaborative, collegial culture of professional learning and student-centered teaching
- Designing and delivering professional development experiences for faculty and staff about effective and innovative pedagogy
- Counseling and recommending faculty and staff for participation in internal and external professional growth experiences aligned with the school’s strategic goals
- Reviewing and processing all professional leave/funding request from faculty and staff
- Collaborating with Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs to recruit, interview, and onboard new faculty and staff
- Leading the planning and execution of all professional learning day activities and other professional growth opportunities
- Leading and facilitating the summer grant program for all faculty and staff
- Leading and implementing the annual faculty professional growth cycle review process
- Assisting the faculty in the process of state educator license renewal
- Partnering with the Co-Directors of Mentoring to ensure a smooth orientation and onboarding process for all new faculty and staff
- Staying current with instructional coaching practices, educational technology, curriculum development, national learning standards, and current best practices
- Overseeing the Teaching Fellowship Program
- Promoting a positive school culture aligned with the school’s mission
Qualification Requirements
- Master’s Degree in education or school administration preferred
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and presentation skills
- 5+ years’ experience as a classroom educator, ideally in an independent school environment
- Strategic thinker and empathetic problem solver
