POSITION SUMMARY: The Assistant Head of School at Windermere Preparatory School supports the Head of School, directly supporting the curricular and extracurricular staff and activities.
REPORTS TO: Head of School
DIRECT REPORTS: LS, MS and HS Division Directors, Fine Arts Director, Director of Student Services, Director of Residential Life
This is a 12-month position
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
- Collaborate, evaluate, and meaningfully interpret schoolwide data so that the leadership team can make data-informed decisions for the betterment of the school and student learning
- Create and monitor systems of support for the divisional leaders
- Create and monitor alignment of programs and student/parent experiences between each of the divisions
- Create and monitor alignment of schedules across divisions to ensure effective use of human and capital resources.
- Remain current on current research and best practices in curriculum, instruction, and assessment and facilitate WPS’s pathway to innovation with accountability
- Provide guidance and oversight of the Residential Program as it relates to academics and campus life
- Conduct parent presentation/education meetings to thoroughly inform parents across the spectrum grades, Pre-K 3 – Grade 12
- Conduct regular division leader meetings and provide supervision, coaching and annual assessment to direct reports
- Support development of new programs and initiatives within the school
- Create and ensure adherence to educational policies
- Strategically plan professional development for the educational staff and school leadership and manage approvals for the senior leadership team.
- Manage the professional development budget for the school.
- Collaborate effectively with the senior leadership team members, contributing to school wide strategic directions and goals
- Ensure compliance with state and regional accreditation agency regulations and policies and ensure compliance with state statutes that are applicable to private schools in Florida
- Maintain program standards required to assure continued accreditation; assist with the accreditation/re-accreditation process, including the preparation and timely submission of annual reports for each accreditation agency
- Create consistency of use in (and understanding of) the Nord Anglia approved supervision and evaluation program for all educational employees
- Serve as Head of School when needed
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Education or of similar nature;
- Master’s Degree or Advanced Degree in Education required
- Substantial teaching experience, preferably with experience with an international population
- Understanding of US based educational standards
- Experience with the IBDP
- Prior experience in a supervisory role at a senior leadership level
- Experience leading change initiatives
- Experienced workshop leader / professional development provider
- Experience driving data interpretation and use in an educational setting
- Experience in having difficult conversations
