The AudioVisualLighting Technician will provide audio, visual, and lighting services as needed on both the Middle and Upper School campuses, deliver and install audiovisual equipment, maintain and repair audiovisual equipment, and prepare and maintain relevant records. Working closely with both the members of the Technology Services Department and the Performing Arts Department, the Technician will provide audiovisual support for students, faculty, staff for events primarily--but not exclusively--outside of the designated performing arts venues on campus. Additionally, the specialist will support groups and organizations renting facilities at Ransom Everglades, and will work together with the Director of Summer and Auxiliary Programs. Assists with the procurement, distribution and maintenance of audio visual materials; does related work as required.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Schedules uses for audiovisual (AV) equipment.
- Sets up, tests and calibrates equipment for use.
- Carries out safety checks and deals with faults.
- Identifies causes for AVL problems and resolves the issues.
- Operates equipment as needed for various meetings and events.
- Provides instructions for the operation of equipment to non-AV employees and trains others in proper use of equipment.
- Designs, plans, and oversees regular and special AV portions of events.
- Develops, tests, edits, and produces presentations and other multi-format resources.
- Must be able to travel to various locations to perform photography, videography, studio, or darkroom work.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Prepares requisitions for the purchase of new audio visual materials.
- Edits video presentations, checks and repairs film, performs minor repairs on audio visual equipment.
- Maintains inventory of materials and equipment.
- Performs clerical work necessary to procurement, distribution and storage of audio visual materials.
- Assists with recording and live streaming of school events.
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to efficiently operate, troubleshoot, and repair AV equipment.
- Ability to create displays and videos to send creative, positive messages related to the school.
- Excellent problem-solving ability.
- Demonstrate basic knowledge of Crestron, QSys, ETC lighting systems, Panasonic Projectors, ViewSonic monitors, and PA Systems
- Knowledge and ability to setup and operate Video systems, including but not limited to projector setups, multi-camera switch set-ups, and Live Streaming
- Extensive Audio System knowledge including setup of wireless mics, portable PA’s, audio system troubleshooting and repair
- Demonstrate basic networking knowledge for the purpose of design, installation, and maintenance of advanced AV control systems
- Ability to stay abreast of trends, hardware, and software for the purpose of recommending procedures and advancements in the school’s AVL technology investment
Education and Experience: A high school diploma and 4 years of appropriate experience. Appropriate vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk, behind a sound board, and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds individually at a time.
- Must be able to stand, walk, climb ladders, and navigate tight spaces.
