Reports to Senior Administrative Officer/Chief of Staff
The OCS Director of Employee Development will be responsible for:
- Developing, implementing, and documenting processes to support
- Recruitment
- Guiding the recruitment, development, and retention of a diverse faculty and staff.
- Development of a Standard Candidate Interview Process.
- Attending career fairs and developing professional networks which support recruitment.
- Develop and implement a rigorous social media due diligence process on new applicants prior to employment offers.
- “Own” the entire recruitment process.
- Document, establish and enforce our Records Retention Policy (Focus on maintaining all records in an electronic format which support HR law requirements)
- Participate in New Employee Orientation/Onboarding
- Periodic salary reviews and benchmarking of local private and public schools
- Educating colleagues by providing professional development in regards to conflict resolution and team building.
- Participate, as needed, with the school’s CommUnity Advisory Council.
- Overseeing and implementing a mentoring program which prepares capable employees for future career advancement.
- Assisting the Chief of Staff in enhancing needs-based financial aid processes which support the mission of OCS by retaining students who are artists, athletes, Christian leaders, and scholars.
- Develop innovative employee engagement activities (i.e. speakers, wellness events, quarterly community events)
- Develop an in-depth knowledge of, and compliance with, all applicable HR laws regarding FMLA (Family Medical Leave Act), CFRA (California Family Rights Act), NPLA (New Parent Leave Act), and various other leaves and labor laws.
- Collaborate with Benefits Administration to make sure that employee benefits are competitive and understandable.
- Serve as a back-up to Chief of Staff in all HR related issues.

Additional Considerations
As a member of the Administrative Leadership Team at Oaks Christian School, the Director of may be expected to attend evening and weekend events. Excellent time management and project management skills are required. Additional duties may assigned as required.
Bachelor’s or advanced degree is required. Three or more years of experience working within an educational setting. Previous experience with program design, implementation and evaluation, strong collaboration skills, and demonstrated commitment to developing a culture of transparent communications. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to build relationships of trust within the faculty and staff communities. He/she should exhibit excellent interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to inspire and influence others. The candidate should be adept at finding win-win solutions to difficult problems, building consensus and support, and reconciling competing interests.
