The Substitute Assistant Athletic Trainer position is a part-time position lasting from August 14, 2023 through approximately September 24, 2023. It is anticipated that this role will consist of approximately 30 hours of work each week. Practices range from 1-6pm Monday through Friday and may also include some weekend hours, as needed. In this role, the selected individual will provide support to the athletics department during games and practices and work with students in the training room.
The Potomac School has a Center for Athletics and Community that ranks among the best facilities in the mid-Atlantic region. The school has 72 interscholastic teams in grades 7-12 and supports 26 varsity teams. The school’s boy’s teams are members of the Mid-Atlantic Conference and the girl’s teams are members of the Independent School League.
Duties and Responsibilities:

In partnership with the Lead Athletic Trainer, ensure there is coverage of the athletic training room and coverage at all home practices and games

Shared coverage of away football games

Weekend coverage of games on Saturdays should be expected, with Sunday coverage on rare occasions.

Assess and treat injuries

Develop and execute training plans for athletes, as needed

Maintain the database to record any student injury and/or treatment activity

Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree in the related field required, Master’s Degree preferred.

Must have an active certification with the NATABOC and be licensed in the State of Virginia or eligible for licensure.

Ability to communicate effectively in English both orally and in writing

Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures including computer skills, database management and office machinery

Valid Driver’s License at time of hire

Ability and willingness to work evenings and weekends

Ability to maintain professional certification with continuing education credits

Knowledge of principles and methods for guidance regarding prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation of physical injuries

Knowledge of human behavior, individual differences in ability, learning and motivation and performance standards

Knowledge of principles and best practices of athletic training and measurements of effectiveness

Ability to work effectively with individuals and groups in collaborative manner
