Job Summary:
The Assistant Director of Admissions, under the direction of the Acting Director of Admissions, will:
- Plan, coordinate and execute school visits, tours, testing, interviews, yield, and outreach events
- Facilitates a welcoming and efficient application process
- Prepare files for Committee Review
- Participate in the Admissions Committee
- Assist and collaborate in the planning and execution of all Admissions events
- Create an environment and interact with families in a way that is aligned with our school mission and culture
- Oversee the Student Ambassador Program
Job Description:
As part of the Admissions Team, the Assistant Director of Admissions will collaborate with the Acting Director of Admission and two additional Admissions team members. Collectively, the team is responsible for all facets of the Admissions process, from active applicant recruitment to orienting new families/students to the school. This individual will be responsible for a specific portfolio of admissions candidates and all areas of those candidates’ engagement with the school. He or she will plan and execute school fairs, feeder school visits, coordinate on-campus visits, testing, interviews, and the student ambassador program. He or she will have the ability to connect with a diverse range of families, create an environment that aligns with our school mission and culture, possess excellent public relations skills, and have deep consideration for the confidentiality that is crucial to the admissions process. The Assistant Director of Admissions will facilitate a welcoming and efficient application process by responding to applicant inquiries, counseling prospective families, and serving as a member of the Admissions Committee in reading and reviewing applications. He or she will collaborate with the team on communications, marketing and collateral materials, website updates, participate in strategic planning to identify ways to increase applicant conversion and yield rates, and general outreach efforts. Diversity recruitment is a significant commitment in the office; the ability to contribute to this commitment would be considered an asset. The Assistant Director of Admissions will have weekend duties in support of the Admission Office. The ideal candidate will have experience in enrollment management, familiarity with admissions databases, exceptional interpersonal and communications skills, be highly customer service focused, detail-oriented, and organized, strong project management skills, good judgment, ability to multitask, positive attitude, and flexibility. Along with proven experience as a collaborator, the Assistant Director of Admissions must have an outgoing personality and exhibit grace under pressure.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred in education, business, communications, or marketing-related field
- Excellent time management
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Proven ability to speak confidently in public
- Ability to work nights and weekends as required for events and/or projects
- Competency with Microsoft Suite and significant database experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bilingual: English-French and/or English-Spanish
- 3-5 years of experience with recruitment, admissions, or a similar field
- An engaging, positive, creative, and personable attitude
- Knowledge of 21st century educational tenets
- Ability to interact and collaborate in a community with individuals on all levels and from various diverse backgrounds.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Works in a very active environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time
- Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled office environment
- Work intermittently in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold
