Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a 7th Grade Science Co-Head Teacher. This is a full-time, 10-month position for the 2023-2024 school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects that reflect a diversity of voices and points of view
- Collaborate with head teacher
- Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
- Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
- Grade student work and participation
- Track students’ work and progress
Qualifications
- MA/MS (Degree in Science, Education, Special Education or related field preferred) and classroom experience teaching in middle or high school
- Experience building positive, appropriate relationships with teens
- Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities
- Experience with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom
- Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
- Is a team player and has a good sense of humor
- New York State Certification and the ability to meet professional standards of the teaching profession
- A desire to contribute to the school’s professional learning community.
Compensation
- $57-85K commensurate with experience for the co-head position
