Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a 7th Grade Science Co-Head Teacher. This is a full-time, 10-month position for the 2023-2024 school year.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
• Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
• Plan curriculum, lessons, and assignments/projects that reflect a diversity of voices and points of view
• Collaborate with head teacher
• Develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and tools for students to become independent, college-bound learners
• Break down/scaffolding of in-class assignments and projects
• Grade student work and participation
• Track students’ work and progress

Qualifications

• MA/MS (Degree in Science, Education, Special Education or related field preferred)  and classroom experience teaching in middle or  high  school
• Experience building positive, appropriate relationships with teens
• Knowledge of, or experience with, learning disabilities
• Experience with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology in the classroom
• Possess patience, flexibility, and good organization skills
• Is a team player and has a good sense of humor
• New York State Certification and the ability to meet professional standards of the teaching profession
• A desire to contribute to the school’s professional learning community.

Compensation

• $57-85K commensurate with experience for the co-head position
