Rossman School, an independent private preparatory school for students in Junior Kindergarten (age 4) through Grade 6, seeks an Assistant to the Head of School for the 2023-24 school year.
Reporting to the Head of School, the Assistant to the Head of School serves as a resource to the Head's office by providing a full range of administrative and project support. In addition, the Assistant to the Head of School works closely with the Board of Trustees and the Leadership Team. The Assistant to the Head of School, along with the School Receptionist, is a warm and welcoming presence for all who enter the front office and serves with high energy and enthusiasm for all aspects of school life.
Functions of the position:
Head of School's Office:
- Support and manage the Head of School's calendar and schedule for daily and ongoing events; ensure all materials are prepared for meetings and appointments
- Prepare correspondence, meeting agendas and reports
- Support enrollment management functions, including admissions correspondence, reports, events, re-enrollment process, student transcripts
- Prepare and edit, with the head's supervision, the Parent/Student and Personnel Handbooks.
- Assist the Head of School to manage the faculty development program, including goal setting, observation & evaluation
- Handle all logistical matters related to ISACS Accreditation process and team visits’
- Annually updates a variety of data driven school metrics for association databases, including NAIS DASL, as well as current administration information
- Coordinate and complete special projects, assist with planning and arranging school-wide functions
- Cover front office and health room responsibilities for receptionist as necessary
Board of Trustees:
- Schedule, arrange, and attend Board of Trustees meetings, prepare and distribute meeting reports, write and deliver meeting minutes
- Schedule and prepare new Trustee orientation activities/materials and board professional development
- Update Board policy manual as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- A bachelor's degree and experience working for a school or non-profit organization
- Exceptional organizational, writing and editing skills, along with professional judgment, discretion, diplomacy, and confidentiality
- Proficiency with Google software and Microsoft Office Suite applications
- Ability to manage a busy schedule with frequent interruptions
- Appreciation of elementary school age children and commitment to Rossman’s values of kindness, honesty, respect and responsibility
