All Saints Episcopal Day School is seeking a dynamic and dedicated individual to join our team as the After School Program Lead Teacher & Site Supervisor. The After School Program serves students in Pre-K3 through Fourth Grade. This position plays a crucial role in creating a safe, engaging, and enriching environment for our students during their after school hours. The ideal candidate will have a passion for education, experience in lesson planning and working with young students, and leadership capacity and communication skills.
The After School Program operates 3:00 - 6:00 p.m.
Daily Lesson Planning and Facilitation: Develop and implement age-appropriate activities that promote academic growth, social development, and creative expression. Ensure that each activity is well-structured, engaging, and tailored to the interests and ages of the students.
Academic & Social Intervention: Provide academic guidance to students by explaining directions and asking them clarifying questions as necessary while they do their homework. Additionally, foster a positive and inclusive atmosphere that encourages students to develop essential social skills, conflict resolution, and teamwork.
Safety & Security Oversight: Prioritize the safety and well-being of all students and staff. Enforce safety guidelines and protocols to create a secure environment and respond appropriately to emergencies or incidents.
Staffing Supervision: Lead and manage after school program staff, providing guidance, and support. Delegate tasks efficiently and ensure all team members are working cohesively to achieve program objectives.
Maintaining Program Schedule: Maintain a well-organized program schedule, including activity rotations, snack time, homework help, and playtime, to ensure an efficient and enjoyable daily routine for students.
Communication with Families: Establish open and effective lines of communication with parents/guardians and caregivers keeping them informed about their child's progress, upcoming activities, and any relevant program updates.
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Background: Bachelor's degree - preferably in Education, Child Development, or a related field. A teaching certificate is a plus.
Teaching Experience: experience in lesson planning and classroom management, preferably in an elementary or after school setting.
Leadership Capacity: leadership skills with the ability to collaborate and lead support staff.
Patience and Empathy: Demonstrated patience, understanding, and empathy when working with children, meeting them at their individual levels of development.
Organizational Skills: Strong organizational abilities to effectively plan and manage daily activities, staff assignments, and student schedules.
Communication Proficiency: Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to interact with students, staff, families, and caregivers.
Problem-Solving: Ability to identify challenges and implement effective solutions to enhance the program's efficiency and effectiveness.
Creativity: Demonstrated creativity in designing engaging and innovative activities that cater to diverse interests and learning styles.
Safety-Conscious: Awareness of safety measures and protocols to ensure the well-being of all program participants.
Cultural Sensitivity: A respectful and inclusive approach towards students and staff from diverse cultural backgrounds.
First Aid/CPR Certification: Preferred, but not mandatory.
