Job Summary

Reporting to the Director of Extended Learning, the Aftercare Attendant is responsible for (a) the overall supervision of students enrolled in aftercare and after school activities (b) ensuring the safety and well-being of all children (c ) leading structured activities (d) ensuring students arrive on time for all after school classes/tutoring, as needed (e) maintaining roster of students in attendance and coordinating billing with finance department.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Provide supervision and direction for children and work to maintain their safety.
• Provide after school duty/supervision of students from 3:00 pm - 4:00 pm before aftercare programming begins at 4:00 pm. 
• Ensure students who take the shuttle are on the bus on time. Supervise primary students who are dropped off from the shuttle until they are picked up. 
• Communicate effectively and professionally with parents about coordinating pick-up. 
• Maintain group attendance records and submit accurate attendance to finance for billing purposes. 
• Supervise daily after school study hall. 
• Plan age appropriate activities for children, in close collaboration with MS Assistant Principal to ensure engagement of children, when study hall is over. 
• Manage daily schedules for after school classes, including tutoring, music lessons, etc, in coordination with co-curricular program colleagues (at Primary)
• Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude at all times, with children, staff, parents and other community members and maintain a professional demeanor at all times.  
• Return classrooms and other areas of the school used for aftercare to their orderly condition. 
• Manage distribution of snacks to children as needed. 
• Document incidents and/or accidents that occur while children are in the group and report to program administration, along with any other problems or concerns that may arise.
• Clean and sanitize all tables before children arrive, in between activities, and at the end of the day; sweeping and tidying duties as necessary.
• Attend all scheduled and mandatory meetings and training events. 
• Notify the Director of Extended Learning as early in the day as possible when you have an unplanned absence. This is important so that staffing can be reconfigured to cover your duties. 
• Provide the Director of Extended Learning with advanced notice of any absence you can anticipate. 
• Perform duties outside the scope of this position description as requested.
