Position Description
Saint Mary’s Hall seeks creative and structured Communications Coordinator to support its robust communications program. As a member of the Office of Community Engagement, the Coordinator is a key member of a three-person communications team, responsible for executing and monitoring aspects of digital and print communications in keeping with the School’s communication strategies, including website maintenance, email communications, and creative content management. The coordinator will be responsible for capturing and producing content that engages and energizes the SMH community. This content will be utilized across various mediums including the website, social media, magazine, video, digital newsletters, and more. The Communications Coordinator will work in tandem with the Director of Communications and the Communications team to manage the School’s branding and messaging, and to share the story of Saint Mary’s Hall with internal and external audiences. They will also work collaboratively to support departments critical to the success of the school, including Advancement, Alumni Relations, Events, Athletics, Admission, Fine Arts, and other internal clients. This position reports directly to the Director of Communications. This is a non-supervisory role.
Responsibilities
-Help execute short and long-term strategies to strengthen the communication efforts of the School and help tell the School’s story, and support the communication team to accomplish identified goals effectively
-Help execute the following: The Shield (biannual magazine); parent, alumni, and community newsletters; school news; Admission collateral; the Donor Impact Report; alumni relations collateral; fundraising materials; print and digital advertising; and varied internal and external communications
-Utilize design skills to create advertising and collateral consistent with the Saint Mary’s Hall mission and brand
-Maintain the School’s website (www.smhall.org) and web portals and database, including editing, site maintenance, search engine optimization, and the execution of end of the year procedures
-Manage and execute strategies for digital communications including the website, newsletters, digital signage, social media channels, and external partner sites
-Utilize design skills to create advertising and collateral consistent with the Saint Mary’s Hall mission and brand
-Actively engage with constituencies across campus to capture engaging and relevant imagery (photography) and copy to tell the SMH story across social media platforms
-Maintain and report metrics for all digital platforms including social media and the website
-Support activities, initiatives, and events sponsored by the Office of Community Engagement as needed
Qualifications
-Bachelor’s degree in graphic or digital design, marketing, communications, or a relevant field (required)
-Relevant design experience (required)
-Independent school experience or similar setting (preferred)
-Proficiency as an art director/designer with a strong skillset in graphic and video design software including the Adobe Suite and Microsoft Office products
-Expertise with Finalsite or other school website partners (preferred)
-Knowledge of electronic communication techniques and strategies including website content management, email communications, and social media management
-A strong understanding of how to use digital communication as an effective platform for engaging and communicating, including website content management, email communications, and social media
-A knack for visual storytelling and the ability to capture engaging and dynamic photography and video
-Excellent written and verbal communications skills
-An ability to think systematically and remain detail-oriented while remaining mission-focused
-A highly motivated, hard-working, and enthusiastic personality with a serious commitment to excellence
-Well-developed interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a wide range of constituents
