City and Country School is seeking a temporary 6th grade head teacher to serve as a leave replacement from November 27th, 2023 to June 18th, 2023.
Job Description
Upper School Group Teachers report to the Upper School Division Director and are an integral part of the teaching faculty. Upper School Group Teachers approach instruction with an interdisciplinary approach, finding authentic ways to connect course materials to student’s understandings of social studies. Our Teachers bring warmth, patience, and understanding to the classroom every day, encouraging children to learn and grow.
Responsibilities
- Encourage lifelong thinking and exploration for students through various avenues for developing and consolidating skills in mathematics, writing, reading, and group problem solving.
- Develop, revise, and teach 6th grade curriculum
- Collaborate with Specials Teachers, Specialists, and Division Director to find ways to integrate instruction with other curricular subjects, namely social studies and Jobs Program
- Maintain an equitable and inclusive learning environment
- Communicate effectively and establish strong working partnerships with families, students, colleagues, outside service providers, and administrators
- Write reports and conduct Parent/Teacher conferences
- Provide curriculum updates to Learning Specialists to support ongoing education
- Attend weekly Staff Meetings (Wednesdays, 3:30-5:30 p.m.)
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field, Masters preferred
- Professional field experience is a plus
- Developmental knowledge of and experience with middle school aged children
- Experience developing and revising curriculum with an integrative approach
- Willingness to work in close collaboration with colleagues and children
- Familiarity with project-based, experiential teaching and lesson development
- Commitment to creating a culture of equity and inclusion
- Effective classroom management skills
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal)
- Valid First Aid, Adult and Infant CPR Certificate issued by an authorized agency

Salary and Benefits
This position has a prorated salary range of $67,000 - $125,000, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
