The Brearley School, an independent girls’ school serving over 770 students K-XII, seeks a Physical Education Teacher for an one-year, full-time position beginning immediately.

Responsibilities include:
- teaching the PE curriculum, which includes fitness, wellness, and sport, as assigned in grades K-12
- coaching the equivalent of two varsity seasons in the Middle and/or Upper School athletic program
- competence in inclusive, anti-bias, anti-racist pedagogy
- participating in and/or leading grade-level team planning meetings with PE colleagues
- prioritizing the safety of students and athletes in all settings
- helping to plan and execute school-wide events hosted by the PE and Athletics Departments.
The ideal candidate will:
- have a bachelor’s degree in the subject area
- have at least three years of experience in teaching PE
- have experience in and enthusiasm for teaching and coaching students
- demonstrate the ability to develop and adapt pedagogy, curriculum, and assessments for students with a range of skill levels and learning styles
- show a commitment to helping girls think independently and develop confidence in their own abilities
- have excellent collaboration and communication skills
- be able to articulate how one's identity plays a role in the classroom and on the field and model inclusive behavior in all settings.

Salary
In 2023-24, total salary for this position ranges from $72,200 (base salary $67,200 + flexible spending plan $5,000) to $139,250 (base salary $134,250 + flexible spending plan $5,000), depending on experience. Salary ranges are updated annually in January.

About The Brearley School
