Westridge School is seeking a strong leader to manage the safety and security operations of its campus. Reporting to the Director of Facilities, this position requires a high degree of diplomacy, flexibility and adaptability. The successful candidate must continue and improve Westridge’s ongoing commitment to the safety of its community, including employees, students, and visitors while fostering a creative, warm, caring and effective learning environment.
Essential Functions:
- With oversight from the Director of Facilities, manage Westridge’s security programs, protocols and policies; ensuring the safety and welfare of students and staff while on school grounds.
- Secure facilities, equipment, students, and personnel by working in conjunction with the appropriate departments in recommending safety and security equipment purchases and upgrades.
- Supervise and mentor security personnel, including the development and delivery of performance appraisals; identifying and recommending training programs for staff as necessary.
- In collaboration with the Director of Facilities and the Westridge leadership team, lead the development and implementation of the school’s Emergency Management Plan.
- Develop, schedule, and conduct safety, security, and emergency preparedness training for employees and students. Responsible for ordering and maintaining emergency supplies.
- Work directly with the Director of Facilities in developing the annual budget for Safety and Security Operations.
- Manage annual inspections of Westridge’s perimeter gates and update access controls and codes as necessary.
- Manage all arrival and departure activities of students; including assignments of staff participation.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with school’s traffic guidelines in accordance with Westridge’s Master Plan.
- Manage contracted security team, including reviewing and approving invoices, and developing schedules and rotation charts for security coverage.
- Lead response to security alarm notifications and direction of local law enforcement.
- Responsible for creating clear and cohesive incident reports and communicating findings with Westridge leadership and local agencies, as necessary.
- Manage annual parking assignments for students, working directly with the Upper School administration.
- Oversee perimeter control card access, including programming and distribution of access control cards.
- Inspect and monitor control panels, alarms, and all related security equipment for proper operation, including all fire and security systems.
- Maintain inventory of Westridge keys; ordering duplicates as necessary.
Skills Requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience preferred.
- Minimum three years’ experience managing security programs in an educational setting.
- Demonstrated experience working with surveillance systems and cameras, and the operation of the related software.
- Knowledge of best practices of security hardware specifications and code requirements.
- Demonstrated experience in effective staff supervision and mentorship.
- Excellent active listening and conflict resolution skills with the ability to exercise and model good judgment in all situations.
- Strong interpersonal, written, and oral communication skills.
- Strong administrative skills and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and Outlook) required.
- Excellent organizational, planning, and problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize multiple projects.

- Ability to work both indoors and outdoors as required in variable weather conditions, ability to work extended periods of time both walking and/or standing, ability to lift up to 50 lbs. and the ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Schedule & Salary
This is a permanent, full-time, exempt position and is eligible for Westridge’s comprehensive benefits package that includes paid time off, medical, vision, dental, and generous 403b retirement options. Salary range is $85,000 - $100,000 depending on experience.
