Greenwich Country Day School seeks a Visual Storyteller/Sports Information Manager to start immediately. Reporting to the Communications Director, this individual will be responsible for the creation of visual and written stories documenting primarily the GCDS Athletics and Arts programs for distribution to internal and external audiences. The ideal candidate will be an experienced communications professional who is a talented videographer/photographer and possesses superior writing and organizational skills, the ability to effectively manage multiple projects concurrently, and an enthusiastic attitude to engage with all members of the school community.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support the Communications Team in the planning, development, and execution of all GCDS Communications projects
- Engage with school community to create compelling and timely visual content for internal and external audiences in a variety of communication platforms
- Provide video and photographic coverage of sports, performing and visual arts, and other events as needed for use in a variety of print and digital media, including GCDS yearbook
- Produce “Headlines” social media reel and story, sports awards, and other videos annually to align with planned storylines in support of the GCDS athletics and arts programs; as well as showcase videos for prospective students
- Provide videography/photography support for other programs and storylines as needed.
- Manage visual projects through production process from point of request through completion, including interviews, script development, editing, and distribution
- Attend regular Athletics Leadership meetings and Communications status meetings, working closely and productively with all members of the staff to understand timing of all projects and ensure cohesive messaging
- Responsibilities in managing visual and performing arts information, in addition to photography/videography include:
- Social Media - manage and produce content for GCDS Arts account
- Responsibilities in managing sports information, in addition to photography/videography include:
- Support the Athletic Director on all community communication regarding the N-12 curriculum and other written materials (e.g. coaches handbook, articles, press releases, seasonal wrap-ups/newsletter, athlete spotlights, etc.)
- Press Relations - Act as liaison between media outlets and the athletics program; contact local papers and news outlets for daily game updates
- Athletics Pages of GCDS Website - maintain and update GCDS website athletic pages, including sports medicine; update the contest calendar and scores
- Social Media - manage and produce content for GCDS Athletic account and weekly content for GCDS social media accounts; follow and oversee related SM accounts, follow other FAA and NEPSAC social media and news
- Contest/Event Promotion - generate spectator awareness and participation in events and contest through a variety of communication channels and strategies
- Advertising - create advertisements for GCDS sponsored sports camps
- Technology - Oversee all live streaming aspects of contests; organize tech needs for showcases and presentations
- Attend school events to develop content and understand culture of school
- Other duties and projects as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Film Production, Digital Journalism, or related
- 5+ years of meaningful experience in a visual communications role
- Ability to think strategically about the school’s communications needs
- High level of creativity and skill in both videography and photography; portfolio will be requested
- Advanced ability with a wide array of video technology, video/photography editing programs such as Adobe and Creative Cloud, and other visual applications and programs
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; writing samples will be requested
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to connect with all members of the community
- Competence with technology and ability to work with technology, including Google docs, Microsoft Office suite, database, content, and digital asset management systems, and social media platforms
- Ability to simultaneously manage multiple projects in production
- Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage a large library of digital visual content and graphic assets
- Ability to adhere to deadlines and clearly communicate project status and needs
- Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy in all aspects of work
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality and the integrity of all aspects of information disseminated within or external to the school community
- Ability to work evening and weekend hours, as needed
