SUMMARY
The Development & Community Engagement Coordinator, reporting to the Director of Development & Community Engagement, supports the successful execution of our volunteer and fundraising programs by assisting with Annual Fund campaign coordination, volunteer management, event support, and database oversight. The Development & Community Engagement Coordinator position is highly collaborative and offers agency, autonomy, and an opportunity to build on a strong base of parent support. Together with the Development Team, the Development & Community Engagement Coordinator plays an important role as part of a vibrant, creative, passionate, and aspirational team of educators and administrators.
A strong candidate will possess outstanding interpersonal skills, exceptional attention to detail and the ability to direct and motivate diverse working groups.
Relevant non-profit experience is preferred.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsibilities
- Manage data entry and donor acknowledgment for giving, event, and volunteer activities in existing fundraising databases.
- Work with the Director of Development & Community Engagement to manage parent volunteers and provide administrative support for the Annual Fund, The Gather for Good, and other fundraising programs, including related event planning responsibilities.
- Liaison with the business office for periodic financial reconciliation
- Support the development and production of development-related communications, including the annual report, fundraising publications, The Gather for Good materials, and weekly email communications throughout fundraising campaigns
Community Engagement
- Support the development of a strong community engagement program that promotes belonging, retention, and giving.
- Support volunteer management through recruitment, training, communication, meeting coordination, and appreciation events
- Form a collaborative partnership with the Head of School, Director of Communications & Story, Director of Operations, Director of Admissions, and Level Directors to support the following: admissions ambassador program, stewards program, Annual Fund class captains, room parents, parents' association, and Gather volunteers.
- Build MMS' alumni network and create opportunities for alumni engagement
- Build relationships with the wider community to promote the school's mission
- Other duties as assigned
This is a full-time, exempt position. The start date is September 25, 2023. Hours are 8:00 am - 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday

Desired Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Related professional experience in an independent school or non-profit organization
- Successful volunteer relations and management
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite and fundraising databases

Other Requirements:
- Must successfully pass the LiveScan fingerprint testing through the Department of Justice
- Must have a clean and valid California Driver's License
- Must have a minimum of two years direct experience, five years preferred
