Position Summary
Admissions Associate, Lower School is a vital member of the Admissions and Enrollment team at Detroit Country Day School. This person will manage all admissions related activities in the Lower School. A champion of the DCDS’ mission with a true affinity for early childhood growth, the AALS will be the primary contact for prospective families from inquiry to enroll.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary contact for prospective families interested in the Lower School and manage all aspects of the admissions process in the lower school.
- Assist the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid in building and executing a strategic recruitment and marketing plan to enroll mission appropriate students.
- Manage applicant data and records. Analyze information to make more informed decisions about enrollment.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate promotions for in-person or virtual admission events in the lower school (including events in the evenings or weekends) in collaboration with Directors and Deans.
- Be connected to the school program and informed on our education philosophy and practices by observing classes and attending faculty meetings.
- Execute a mission-aligned assessment process for prospective applicants from grades PK3 – Grade 3.
- Interview parents/guardians and student applicants.
- Read and evaluate applicant files and serve on the Admission Review Committee.
- Any other responsibilities set forth by the Director of Enrollment Management and Financial Aid.
- Manage admissions decisions and wait-pooled applications in a confidential manner.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is required.
- Previous full-time experience in admissions, recruitment, sales, and or marketing, preferably in an independent school.
- General experience in early childhood program is a plus.
- Effective communicator, strong interpersonal skills.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity and inclusion.
- Goal and results oriented in a competitive independent school market.

Detroit Country Day School’s facilities are situated in two locations approximately three miles apart and less than one half hour from the center of Detroit. The Upper School (9-12) and Middle School (4-8) share adjoining campuses in Beverly Hills, where the administrative offices, facility services, safety and security services, and the main arts and athletics facilities are located. The Lower School (PreK-3) is located nearby in neighboring Bloomfield Hills. The Detroit Country Day Upper School offers a strong and varied program that provides numerous opportunities for students to demonstrate their individual strengths and develop their potential. The rigorous college-preparatory program, which includes Honors and Advanced Placement courses in each discipline in addition to a diverse selection of electives, prepares students for college and beyond. In addition to a series of honors and Advanced Placement courses, students at Detroit Country Day Upper School may pursue an International Baccalaureate Diploma.
