The Out-of-Door Academy seeks a Middle School/Upper School Band - PT Teacher (Temporary Position) to join a thriving school that is committed to providing a relevant and student-centered learning experience.

Responsibilities - Reporting to the Head of Middle School the Middle School/Upper School Band - PT Teacher (Temporary  will be responsible for the following:

• Teach four (4) classes, including percussion, band and two (2) middle school classes.
• Prepare for and conduct multiple band concerts throughout the year, often coordinating with chorus and strings.
• Display a rich knowledge and expertise in teaching and leading instrumental music with the ability to perform basic instrumental maintenance and repair.
• Demonstrate proficiency on a woodwind, brass, or percussion instrument along with a well-rounded knowledge of all band instruments.
• Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility.

Qualifications - The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and/or preferred:

• Bachelor’s Degree in Music is required; Master’s Degree preferred.
• Performing experience with instruments will be considered.
• Prefer music classroom teaching experience in grades 6 – 12, ideally in an independent school setting.
• Proficient with technology including Word, Excel and the Google drive platform.
• A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies including students, faculty, staff, and parents.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a part-time, temporary stipend position expected to be available beginning in October 2023 through February 2024. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience.
