Poly Prep seeks applicants for the position of Director of Major Gifts. This full-time role (with the potential to be hybrid, minimum 2 days on campus) is responsible for raising philanthropic dollars for Poly Prep Country Day School. The primary responsibilities are to identify and evaluate prospects, cultivate donors and prospects for upcoming capital campaigns, solicit and steward leadership gifts.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Follows strategic direction and annual operating plan for achievement of all major and planned giving goals as laid out by Chief Advancement Officer and Director of Advancement.
- Manages a personal portfolio of 90-100 major donors and prospects capable of making cash and/or planned gifts of $50,000 and above.
- Conducts no fewer than 125 individual cultivation and stewardship meetings per year; and submits no fewer than 25 major gift proposals per year.
- Collaborates with the Director of Annual Giving on strategy; and documents all work with prospects accurately and quickly for the advancement database.
- Collaborates with other colleagues to ensure the effective development of strong relationships between constituents and the School, education of constituents about why philanthropic support is necessary and warranted, and communication of Poly’s appreciation for, and impact of, contributions made by donors.
- Maintains stewardship contacts with donors; adheres to the highest ethical standards; demonstrates empathetic disposition, and perseverance; reflects optimistic and positive attitude, and conveys sensitivity to needs of the donors.
- Partners effectively as needed with the School’s Admissions, Communications & Marketing, Finance, and Facilities teams to achieve Advancement and institutional success.
- Understands and embraces the school mission, philosophy, and values, and, in partnership with the Director of Advancement, Chief Advancement Officer, and Head of School, contributes to a culture of teamwork, trust, collegiality, and accountability.
Hybrid position requiring approximately 2 days on campus, occasional evening and weekend obligations and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education: A bachelor’s degree, master’s preferred.
Experience: At least 5 to 7 years of progressive experience in fields of major gift fundraising, advancement, or comparable.
Specific Skills:
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge, or similar databases.
- Strong organizational skills.
- Exceptional writing and communication skills.
- Superior client service skills, internally and externally.
- Strong attention to detail and follow through required.
