Position Summary and Overview
The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking an Upper School Math Assistant Teacher (Grades 7 & 8) to fill in for maternity leave coverage for the 2023-2024 school year.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to Churchill’s mission and core values
- Embrace and model Churchill’s commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion
- Support two sections of Upper School Math (Grades 7 & 8) with the potential for other coverage assignments.
- Work collaboratively with co-teacher and other related service providers and specialists to plan and implement units of study, lessons, assignments, projects & activities
- Support students by scaffolding in-class assignments, tasks and projects
- Assess student work and participation
- Seek improved methods of teaching through professional development opportunities
- Maintain an organized and consistent classroom management system
- Establish a strong sense of community and culture to create a safe learning environment for all members of the learning space
- Establish and maintain parent contact
- Other duties as assigned by the division director
Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have...
- BA or BS Degree (Degree in Math, Math Education, Special Education or related field preferred)
- Classroom experience building positive and appropriate relationships with young students
- Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective service strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
- Familiarity with Smartboards, Google Drive, and technology
- Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
- Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor
Compensation
- $45K - $53K commensurate upon experience
