Position:
The Part-Time Assistant Technical Director will work closely with and under the direction of our Technical Director to support all aspects of our upcoming productions. Duties may include building scenery, operational support for lights and sound, and running technical needs for various assemblies and evening events. The position includes interacting with student technicians in the Middle and Upper School divisions (grades 5 - 12). This position requires a flexible schedule and the ability to work weekends and evenings as necessary. Hours during school recess periods may be required.

Essential Responsibilities Include: Duties are subject to change, and others may be assigned.
- Safety, care, maintenance, and operation of all technical equipment and systems, both theatrical and not
- Assisting the Performing Arts Technical Director with building, lighting or sound for productions
- Maintaining workspaces and performance/exhibition spaces
- Coordinating production schedules with the Production Manager
- Assist with Theatre events
- Supervise students in the execution of scenery/prop creation and prop run duties during production

Requirements, Skills, and Education:
- A Bachelor’s Degree earned or in process is preferred. Professional and educational experience in carpentry, rigging, painting, lighting, sound and/or sculpture ? Proven ability as a theater technician and carpenter with experience in rigging, and experience working on scenic elements
- Knowledge about applicable safety practices and comfortable working at heights and on ladders
- The ability to communicate effectively with colleagues, students and guest artists ? Aptitude with Microsoft Office programs, Google Suite, VectorWorks/AutoCAD ? Proven organizational skills and ability to multitask
- An approachable, collaborative professional who values teamwork, builds meaningful relationships, listens well, and respects differences of opinion.
- Able to exhibit strong emotion control and while under pressure
- Ability to adapt to changes in the work environment; manage competing demands; change approach or method to fit the situation best; able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
