National Cathedral School (NCS) announces a search for a full-time Upper School Spanish Teacher substitute for the spring semester.  The position begins in January 16, 2024. The candidate will teach classes at different levels (Levels 1 through 5). Native or native-like fluency and experience in teaching Spanish are essential. The upper school Spanish program introduces students to the fundamentals of vocabulary, grammar, and syntax while fostering the skills required for foreign language study.  The NCS World Languages department focuses on developing students’ oral proficiency and cultural awareness, enabling students to communicate effectively in real-life contexts with native speakers.  The successful candidate is knowledgeable about the cultural aspect of the Spanish language (ideally from direct experience living abroad); has significant teaching experience from introductory to upper levels; is oriented toward an oral proficiency model; demonstrates mastery of a varied, creative array of pedagogical approaches; and has the ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds. 

A bachelor’s degree is required; a master’s degree is preferred.
