Position Summary
The Controller is an integral part of the Business Office and is responsible for coordinating and assisting in the preparation of financial reports, such as income statements, balance sheets, student billing and analyses of historical and future income and expenses, in addition to other special reports that may be needed. The Controller also oversees the functions of accounting, audit and budgeting. The role is a supervisory role within the business office and reports to the Business Manager.
Additional Functions:
- Responsible for ensuring accurate and timely financial information;
- Preparing monthly financial statements, including variance analyses;
- Supervising student billing;
- Reviewing account reconciliations on a monthly basis;
- Preparation and Monitoring of departmental budgets and forecasts;
- Communication of accounting policies to affected employees to ensure compliance.
- Supervising all incoming cash receipts and deposits;
- Maintaining daily cash balances and reviewing bank reports;
- Engaging the Finance Committee to both inform and to answer questions.
Qualifications:
Ideal candidates will have a degree in business administration, accounting, finance or general management with a minimum of five years of professional experience. A CPA License is preferred. The successful candidate will be organized, efficient and skilled in accounting and financial management. She or he will be able to relate to and work closely with diverse school constituencies, will have excellent interpersonal skills and will demonstrate an ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:
- Occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
- Generally works in standard office conditions and climate
- Works in a fast paced and professional environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines and a varied and diverse array of contacts.
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods of time.
- Works in a school environment with frequent contact with students.
