Job Summary:
Francis W. Parker School is a renowned JK-12th grade independent day school. Founded in 1901 on the tenets of progressive education, the school currently enrolls 945 students and employs 200 dedicated faculty and staff members who, in addition to assistant teachers, substitute teachers and coaches, work together to ensure that the School lives up to its Mission to “educate students to think and act with empathy, courage and clarity as responsible citizens and leaders in a diverse, democratic society and global community.”
We are currently seeking a dynamic, innovative, and experienced Upper School Science Teacher to join our expert Science faculty for the 2023-24 school year. Responsibilities include teaching one (1) section of Advanced Biology over two (2) semesters. This accelerated biology course is designed for students who have demonstrated high achievement and motivation in their previous science studies. Topics include the exploration of ecology, evolution, cell and molecular biology, genetics and heredity, the nature of science and bioethics.

Required Qualifications:
- B.S. in Science, Masters or PhD preferred
- High School classroom teaching experience (grades 9-12)
- Strong interest in and deep knowledge of contemporary global and local issues that relate to the study of science
- Experience with developing and implementing Introductory Biology curriculum at the Honors Level
- Commitment to using multiple pedagogical approaches to differentiate the needs of students
- Excellent communication skills, sound judgment, and emotional maturity
- Affinity and enthusiasm for working with adolescents.
- Demonstrated record of developing one’s own cultural competency and incorporating diversity, equity and inclusion in personal practice and curriculum
- Enthusiastic desire and commitment to learn and improve professionally
- Experience developing positive working relationships with both students and colleagues
