Position Summary
The Montessori School of Raleigh (MSR) seeks a Media Aide and After-School Care Guide for the 2023-2024 school year. Under the general direction of the Lower School Director, the ideal candidate will partner with the Director of Educational Technology for the delivery of Library and Technology classes at the Kindergarten level as well as support to the Library/Media Center. In this dual role, the ideal candidate will also partner with the Toddler team in providing support during portions of the academic school day as well as delivery of the After-School Care program. This role entails maintaining and providing environments and experiences which supports students, staff, parents, Montessori philosophy, and MSR policies.

Established in 1974, MSR is a vibrant and exceptional independent Montessori and International Baccalaureate (IB) World School school in the Triangle area serving 400+ students aged 6 weeks through 18 years. Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in education, library media, or a related field
- Montessori experience preferred
- Teaching experience at the Toddler (15 months - 3 years old) levels

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Adhere to AMS guidelines and professional standards.
- In partnership with the Director of Educational Technology, establish and deliver Kindergarten Library/Media class scope and sequence. Support in Elementary Technology classes as needed.
- Provide support to the MSR Media Center, including helping with book circulation and shelving materials.
- Provide supportive and collaborative partnership with classroom teachers through consistent communication, which includes being a resource as a substitute classroom teacher, when necessary.
- Support the preparation and maintenance of the After-School environment in which the furnishings and materials are developmentally appropriate in providing care as an extension to the academic school day
- Plan, deliver, and supervise a developmentally appropriate and consistent schedule of activities for students during after-school hours.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of students in the classroom .
- Adheres to the MSR Diapering and Toileting best practices policy, ensuring the health, safety, and documentation of students in the process.
- Collaborate and participate within a divisional team and with interdisciplinary teachers.
- Partner with Student Support Services to ensure student success and developmental readiness.
- Be available to parents through written communication, setting up conferences, and educating parents in Montessori philosophy.
- Create positive relationships with parents and colleagues by returning emails within 48 hours on work days.
- Maintain a supportive and collaborative partnership with administration and colleagues to assist with curriculum development and implementation within the context of the School's overall program, and mission, and core values.
- Foster an inclusive, equitable, and diverse learning community.
- Remain student-centered, collegial, passionate, and innovative.
- Keep accurate records of student progress.
- Other duties as assigned by the Lower School Director or Head of School.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
The Media Aide and After-School Care Guide can expect to:
- Work in a fast-paced environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Work primarily in a traditional climate-controlled classroom environment, with periods of time outdoors
- Supervise groups of students and regularly engage with parents, staff, and visitors
- Occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
- Turn, bend, and reach.
