Position Summary and Overview

The Churchill School & Center, a K-12 school for students with language-based learning disabilities, is seeking a certified Assistant  Physical Education teacher to teach across the Lower and Upper School divisions.  Candidates must have at least a bachelor’s degree in Physical Education and an understanding of and work within the field of special education to best understand language-based learning needs.  Physical Education professionals at Churchill coach the extracurricular teams each season.   

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have...

• BA or BS Degree (Degree in Physical Education, Special Education or related field required)
• NYS Teacher Certification 
• Classroom experience building positive and appropriate relationships with young students
• Knowledge of, or willingness to continue higher levels of education to obtain knowledge of effective teaching strategies and methodologies for working with children with language-based learning disabilities
• Familiarity with Google Drive and technology in the classroom
• Interest in professional career development in the field of special education
• Patience, flexibility, good organization skills, and a sense of humor

Compensation 

• 45K-53K commensurate with experience
