Summary
Crystal seeks a full-time, exempt (1.0 FTE, 12-month) Director of Development for Major and Planned Giving (DDMPG). The Director of Development for Major and Planned Giving (DDMPG) is responsible for overseeing, developing, and implementing all non-annual giving programs at Crystal. (Non-annual giving includes capital campaign giving, planned giving, endowment stewardship and giving, foundation/grant support, and major gifts.) This lead operational role, reporting to the Assistant Head for Advancement and Strategy (AHAS), focuses on areas critical to campaign and major gift success including soliciting gifts, tracking and managing gifts and strategies; organizing and managing campaign chairs and volunteers; overseeing campaign events, systems, and metrics of progress; and leading the operations of the school’s crucial $50M capital campaign. The DDMPG also works collaboratively with the AHAS to create and execute strategies for cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major and planned gifts from individuals, foundations, and families.

Essential Functions
Capital Campaign
- In collaboration with the Assistant Head for Advancement and Strategy (AHAS) and other school leaders, oversee the planning and execution of the school's current $50M capital campaign and any future capital campaigns.
- To achieve the monetary goals of the campaign, responsibilities include the following:
- Create and execute cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies for major campaign donors, including current parents, alumni, former parents/guardians, and former trustees
- Collaborate with the AHAS to develop and produce campaign messaging and materials that effectively share the campaign's goals and impact
- Ensure accurate and timely recording and reporting of campaign progress and results
- Lead the project management of proposal creation, follow up conversations, and gift closures
- Develop systems to ensure that strategies are being implemented and leadership and volunteers are coordinated in their approach
- Plan and lead Campaign Committee meetings
- Lead and plan strategy discussions on top prospects
- Manage research process to ensure valuable prospect research is conducted
- Prepare all solicitation materials
- Track and manage all campaign gifts
- Analyze campaign progress and quarterly projections
Major and Planned Giving
- Manage all endowed gifts: steward donors and provide annual updates including areas of impact and improvement.
- Renew Crystal’s planned giving program to align with the school's mission, values, strategic goals and objectives. Research, develop, and implement best practices to ensure a pipeline of planned gifts to the school.
- Identify major and planned giving prospects through research, data analysis, and personal interactions.
- Develop and manage a portfolio of major and planned giving donors and prospects.
- Create and implement cultivation and stewardship strategies for campaign, major, and planned giving donors.
- Work collaboratively with the AHAS and the development team to coordinate major and planned giving activities with other fundraising initiatives.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with major and planned giving donors and prospects, including regular communication and personalized engagement.
- Work with the AHAS and other school leaders to ensure that major and planned giving opportunities are aligned with the school's mission, values, and priorities.
- Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the major and planned giving program and make recommendations for improvements as needed.
Education, Certifications, and Work-Related Experience
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required
- 7+ years of experience in the field of fundraising or nonprofit management
- Demonstrated project management experience
- Demonstrated success in campaign fundraising
- Proven ability to inspire, lead, motivate, and manage
- Outstanding written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and the ability to collaborate and engage with a variety of stakeholders
- Proven ability to produce clear and engaging content
- Experience using technology including Google Suite, Microsoft Word, Slack
Preferred
- Knowledge and hands-on experience with Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
- Experience working at or with independent schools or higher education
- Spanish and/or Mandarin speaking
- Experience with event planning
- Assiduous attention to detail; strong copy editing skills
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
- Able to work in a dynamic environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
- Able to lift up to 20 pounds
- Able to climb stairs
- May work at a desk and computer for extended periods
- May work on evenings and weekends
Travel Required
Light travel between the Middle School and Upper School campuses, as needed. Some national travel for fundraising purposes will be required. Attend events as required.

Salary and Benefits
This is a full-time administrative position (40 hours/week), and eligible for 12-month employee benefits. This position is an exempt position. The annual salary is commensurate with experience within the range of $115K-180K. The recruitment period will remain open until sufficient resumes have been received and may close at any time a sufficient pool of highly qualified candidates has been established. First consideration will be given to individuals who apply between September 20, 2023 through October 4, 2023. Second consideration will be given to individuals that apply between October 5, 2023 through October 13, 2023. The ideal start date for this position is November 1, 2023.
