OVERVIEW
Mid-Pacific’s Global Exchange Academy (GlobalX) seeks to influence the lives of students in the U.S., Asia, the Pacific, and beyond through a blended learning platform that offers traditional, experiential, and certificate-based courses. Through Mid-Pacific’s GlobalX programs, students from elementary age through adults have access to a robust academic portfolio to pursue their passions and advance their academic, co-curricular, and professional goals through summer school, micro-courses, certificate-based courses, community-based learning (internships/externships), and other innovative and engaging programs. Programs range from credit-bearing courses to less formal explorations of the performing arts, athletics, robotics, culinary, and community-based problems, as well as explorations into inquiry-driven projects. GlobalX works in tandem with Mid-Pacific’s Kupu Hou Academy, the school’s professional learning department, to offer opportunities for teacher candidates, teacher leaders, and school leaders to sharpen their craft of deeper learning through professional development programs tied directly to GlobalX student programs.
The Academy Directors, Vice President of Academic Affairs, COO, and President of the school are guided by the view that these positions function as part of a unified team working with mutual understanding and cooperation in implementing the overall Center for Advancing Education program and the management of its students, instructors, and staff.
Current and future programs are built upon three important design principles:
- Building and sustaining a learning community that is committed to transforming schools, one classroom at a time.
- Placing intellectual curiosity and the inquiry process at the center of teaching and learning
- Igniting and perpetuating the joy of learning on behalf of teachers and students everywhere
Successful programs will inspire the next generation of problem-solvers through deeper learning as we recognize our mission of providing educators and students committed to transforming education with the tools and knowledge to apply deeper learning principles in classrooms, careers, and communities around the world.
