Job Summary:
As the Senior Human Resources Generalist at The Awty International School, you will be a key contributor to the smooth operation of our Human Resources Department. Your role involves supporting HR services, policies, and programs while prioritizing employee satisfaction, and engagement, and providing expert guidance in employment-related matters. The Senior Human Resources Generalist plays a vital part in advancing the school's mission, fostering an inclusive and diverse environment, and enhancing the Awty community.
Primary Functions - Senior Human Resources Generalist will:
Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, the Senior Human Resources Generalist is responsible for overseeing all facets of HR, including job postings, facilitating the full hiring process, onboarding new team members, maintaining job descriptions, managing employee records, providing reporting support, gathering HR analytics, issuing offer letters - employment agreement, monitoring health benefits, and overseeing open enrollment. This role demands the ability to handle sensitive information, exceptional administrative and organizational skills, and expertise in HR software. Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to effectively communicate vital information while effectively managing day-to-day tasks and long-term projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare, maintain, and support employee orientation, employment agreements, benefits plan enrollment, policies and procedures, and updates to the employee handbook. Ensure that database management procedures, equal opportunity employment enforcement, and employee records and documentation policies accurately reflect the Awty International School's mission.
- Assist and act as a backup for payroll processing and handle other daily HR activities while ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations.
- Given our status as an international school, focus on evolving immigration requirements for our expatriate community, including onboarding, work authorizations, visa solutions, relocations, communication, and legal obligations in this dynamic area.
- Assume additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Human Resources.
Duties:
- Administer personnel programs and policies related to hiring, onboarding, termination procedures, and time off, Workers ’ Compensation, safety, training, performance evaluations, and compensation.
- Post job openings on various platforms and assist with the full hiring and onboarding process.
- Prepare job offers, employment agreements, and updates on salary and benefits.
- Create, maintain, and audit all employee files to ensure compliance.
- Process new hire paperwork, including background checks and I-9 forms.
- Manage and maintain employee data.
- Assist with communicating benefits information to employees, including open enrollment for health insurance, flexible spending accounts, retirement account setup, and employee assistance programs.
- Serve as the initial point of contact for employee questions and concerns about HR topics and company policies.
- Coordinate workplace incident reports and escalate questions or issues to the Director of Human Resources as needed.
- Process annual employee handbook updates, policies and procedures, and compile final drafts for the Director of Human Resources.
- Assist with payroll processing.
- Support special projects as needed.
- Prepare reports and correspondence as required.
- Complete administrative tasks, including filing paperwork, updating policies, and handling employment verifications.
- Provide support to the Director of Human Resources as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by management.

Preferred Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree plus 3-5 years of experience in Human Resources.
- Comprehensive knowledge and experience in employment law, compensation, organization development, employee relations, training, and development.
- Strong background in HR, HRIS platforms and payroll software, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite.
- Demonstrated proficiency in using technology effectively.
- Experience with expatriate employment, including work authorizations, visas, relocations, onboarding, and other employee/employer aspects related to this area.
- Experience in the administration of benefits and compensation programs and other Human Resources-related programs.

- Excellent computer skills in a Microsoft Windows environment.
- Outstanding organizational, interpersonal, and collaborative skills.
- Multilingualism is a plus, with an emphasis on English, French, and Spanish.
- Proficiency in communicating in the French language (speaking, writing, reading).
- Ability to train others on Human Resources and Payroll systems.
- Excellent attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.
