Waldorf School of Lexington is currently accepting applications for a full-time School Nurse. This 12-month, salaried position has an immediate start date and offers competitive benefits. Salary is commensurate with experience.
The School Nurse is a critical frontline professional who creates and ensures a positive, safe, and welcoming environment in our health office. The role involves interacting and providing nursing care to WSL students, faculty, and staff, as well as communicating with families and the community.
Essential Functions:
- Manage a comprehensive school health program consistent with Massachusetts guidelines, regulations and statutes, making the appropriate adjustments in consideration of WSL’s mission and status as an independent school.
- Create and ensure a positive, warm, and welcoming environment in our heath office.
- Provide medical care to students with chronic medical conditions or acute illness and injury.
- Oversee medication administration for students.
- Provide social-emotional support to students in conjunction with the School Counselor.
- Complete administrative duties for the heath office, including managing student medical records, overseeing our student medical record system (Magnus).
- Notify the community and public health officials of relevant health related information and/or communicable disease outbreaks when necessary.
- Collaborate with other administrative staff to advise on safety practices and emergency management procedures.
We are seeking a proactive, enthusiastic, and committed health professional who enjoys interacting with children, families and colleagues. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal and organizational skills, experience and comfort with health care tasks and responsibilities. Additional qualifications include:
- Current Registered Nurse licensed in the state of MA
- 1 year experience as a RN
- Proficiency and interest in working with child and adolescent students
- CPR and First Aid certified
- Computer skills and familiarity with Electronic Health Records
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Massachusetts School laws and regulations
