The Swain Campus of Moravian Academy, serving children preschool-aged through grade 8 in the Lehigh Valley, seeks a full-time building substitute for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year. This position would be responsible for the teaching and care of students across grade levels, in both short and long-term capacities as needed. The school seeks candidates who are innovative, technology savvy, have a firm grasp of teaching pedagogy, and embrace the unique developmental stages of students aged three - fourteen years old.
Teachers at the Swain Campus are dedicated to creating vibrant classroom communities that inspire students to achieve academic excellence, develop a strong sense of character, and act responsibly in a changing world. Swain teachers meet regularly, work collaboratively within the discipline and across divisions, and are actively involved in the life of the school outside their classrooms.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach and manage all aspects of the day-to-day classroom operations in designated classrooms
- Design and implement innovative instructional methods to meet the needs of diverse learners’ academic, social, and emotional growth
- Maintain consistent communication with school personnel, students’ parents, and other team members
- Attend divisional, full-faculty, and parent meetings as needed
- Maintain a well-managed, mutually respectful, and welcoming classroom environment
- Collaborate with other school and off-campus professionals
- Collaboratively plan and co-teach with fellow classroom teachers
- Engage in continued professional development
Qualifications
- Passion for teaching and children
- Prior teaching experience and work with children
- Training in research-based best practices and current teaching methods
- Experience applying Responsive Classroom, Singapore Math, and Wilson Fundations a plus
- Demonstrated track record of being a team player and community-minded
Education
- Bachelor’s Degree in a related field of Education

Duration:
This is a full-time position beginning as soon as possible (October 2023).
