Key School is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Coordinator who will partner with the Director of Human Resources in collaboration with the Business Office to support HR Operational and Administrative initiatives, including all aspects of payroll and benefits administration. The ideal candidates will also embrace professional development, be willing to develop new initiatives as needs arise, value diversity, and support Key School beliefs, values, and practices. This role will report directly to the Director of Human Resources.

Job Responsibilities
Payroll (60%)
- Administer all aspects of payroll, including time card compliance, supervisor approval, additional earnings, payroll changes, tax withholdings, W-2 and 1095 distribution
- Provide departmental assistance with questions relating to payroll and leave balances
- Process paperwork for new employees, including I-9 verification and confirm employee information into the payroll system
- Reconcile monthly payroll deductions and benefits and prepare journal entry reports for the Controller
- Assist employees in registering for or resetting access to online portal
- Assist with annual financial, workers’ compensation and 403(b) audit testing selections along with other auditor requests
- Transmit 403(b) retirement contributions to retirement services and HSA contributions to medical banking institutions
Benefits & Onboarding (40%)
- Partner with the Director of Human Resources to provide benefit information to all new hires during the onboarding process. Distribute enrollment materials and determine eligibility. Ensure that enrollment process is complete, and any voluntary deductions are recorded appropriately in the payroll system.
- Ensure the accuracy of all benefit enrollments and provide vendors with accurate eligibility information. Update appropriate databases with new and changing information
- Maintain a system of personnel records for all school employees in order to provide a comprehensive and current record of all matters pertinent to employment
- Manage the School’s comprehensive background check process for incoming faculty and staff
- Complete the Employer's Statement of Wage Earnings form for workers compensation benefits
- Build effective working relationships with faculty
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree or relevant work experience in a Human Resources, Business or Accounting field preferred
- Minimum of 3 years' experience processing payroll (ADP Preferred)
- Knowledge of payroll law and best practices
- Basic proficiency in using Microsoft Word and Excel

Technical Competencies
Key is a Google Workspace for Education school. Candidates should be proficient in using Google applications, have a solid understanding of cloud-based storage and file-sharing platforms, and efficiently manage email and scheduling using Gmail and Google Calendar. They should be proficient in virtual communication tools such as Zoom or Google meet and have basic troubleshooting skills to resolve common technical issues that may arise in the classroom.
Work Schedule/Travel
Occasionally, there may be school functions that will require your presence to work flexible hours, including nights and/or weekends. Additionally, participation in scheduled staff & faculty meetings is required.
