Position Overview: Columbus School for Girls seeks a Human Resource Generalist who will serve as the primary individual responsible for the daily functions of Human Resources for the school, including oversight and administration of all human resource activities and policies.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Manage all processes in the employee lifecycle including recruiting, hiring, onboarding, compensation, benefits, annual contract renewal and offboarding processes to ensure clarity, consistency and equity in all processes; collaborates with departments to understand skills and competencies required for openings.
- Create, maintain and update all job descriptions and employee personnel files for the School in cooperation with School leadership and department heads.
- Assist in management and documentation of annual performance review processes, with additional administrative oversight of the staff process.
- Collaborate with the administration to create, maintain and update the employee handbook to ensure compliance and clarity of School policies and procedures applicable to federal, state, and local laws and regulations.
- Manage the employee benefit program to include communication with benefit vendors and running the annual open enrollment process.
- Collaborate with the Business Office payroll function to ensure that all employee changes have been appropriately recorded in payroll software and documented in payroll preparation files.
- Manage FMLA, workers compensation claims, and long-term leave; responsible for EEO, Workers Compensation and 403(b) filings.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws and industry regulations and advise employee supervisors on legal implications of HR issues; maintain knowledge of industry trends and best practices related to human resources management.
- Work in partnership with administration to effectively plan and implement annual employee training and professional development; Develop and implement employee wellness programs and initiatives.
- Consult with supervisors on employee issues and work in collaboration with School administrators to document and facilitate employee support and accountability processes; process employee grievances and work toward effective communication & resolution; implement performance improvement plans when necessary
Qualifications and Requirements:
- Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field
- At least one year experience in Human Resources
- Experience working in K-12 schools, preferred

- Proficiency with Google Apps (Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Sheets, etc.), Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.), as well as familiarity with database management/Human Resources Information Systems.
