Position Summary: At Forman School, the Fellow position offers valuable job experience in a boarding school. This one-year position includes room and board for the school year, professional development opportunities, and consideration for further employment (based on department openings). This role straddles the two departments of Admission and communications, with time to be divided between both teams.
Primary responsibilities:
Admissions:
- Follows up on inquiries, attends school fairs, and conducts student interviews and tours with prospective families.
- Provides information and support to current and prospective families in person, on the phone or through email as they navigate the independent school and gap year admission process.
- Participates in and provides event planning support for Admission Open Houses, Revisit Day, and Consultant Tours.
- Fill in as administrative support for the Admission Department.
Marketing and Communications:
- Take pictures of Forman’s community showcasing day-to-day activities, including weekends and evenings.
- Maintain photo library
- Monitor our social media handles. This includes:
- Assist with managing the social media calendar
- Assist with scheduling posts on Instagram, Facebook, and LinkedIn
- Assist with the layout and production of flyers and invitations
- Assist with special events as needed
- Act as a liaison between Forman’s Marketing and Communications Team and Ingenuity Year, Forman’s Gap Year Program
- Copyediting newsletters and major publications
Student Life:
- Residing in a dormitory and serving as a secondary houseparent, on duty twice weekly for up to 22 students.
- Developing skills to interact with teenage students in a professional capacity.
- Attending school functions, interacting with parents of students, and other general faculty expectations.
- Member of the weekday and weekend duty team.
- Other duties as assigned.
Other Expectations: This position is a boarding school faculty and staff member. Candidates should be interested in contributing outside the academic day and becoming fully involved in the student life program. Faculty are expected to demonstrate respect for diversity of identities and experiences, an orientation toward equity and inclusion, and cultural competency in all aspects of School life.
