Talcott Mountain Science Center (TMSC), a renowned institution in Avon, Connecticut, is seeking a dedicated and collaborative Administrative Assistant. With over 50 years of experience in STEM education, TMSC aims to provide exceptional programs that fulfill its mission: inspiring today’s children to invent tomorrow. The Administrative Assistant provides administrative support to two members of the senior leadership team: the Director of Science & Innovation and the Director of Development & Marketing. This work will include, but is not limited to, assisting with clerical tasks, facilitating communications, and maintaining event and meeting schedules. The role also oversees the organization's reception area, welcoming guests and answering phone calls. A member of a small team, this role also serves as a backup and partner to the Administrative Assistant, Talcott Mountain Academy.
The Administrative Assistant for TMSC must be the welcoming face of Talcott Mountain Science Center, ensuring a positive, safe environment for all students, families, visitors, contractors, vendors and other guests. Additionally, this role is essential to the processes of event and program registration and coordination, supply acquisition, database support, and communicating critical information to a broad range of constituencies. The ideal candidate for the Administrative Assistant, Talcott Mountain Science Center role will be a collaborative professional with strong interpersonal skills. Furthermore, the ideal candidate will be an excellent communicator, both orally and in writing, as well as a person who is technologically savvy, detail oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities. The ideal candidate will possess 2-4 years of experience providing direct support to senior level organizational leaders and 1-2 years of experience managing an organization’s reception function. Candidates with robust experience using technology platforms such as Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and remote meeting applications are strongly preferred; experience using the Raiser’s Edge fundraising platform is highly desirable. Candidates must possess a valid driver’s license and daily access to reliable transportation.
