Marymount School of New York seeks a seasoned college counseling professional for a leave replacement position for the second semester of the school year. The ideal candidate will have a warm and personal approach to meeting students’ and families’ needs, and has a particular understanding of the experience of young women. We seek a candidate that will contribute to the culture of teamwork and collaboration in the college counseling office, working alongside a director and coordinator, who also possesses extraordinary interpersonal and organizational skills. We hope to find someone who can guide families through the successful transition to post-secondary education with care.

College Counseling Responsibilities: 

• Work closely with the college counseling team to meet with students individually and with families
• Assist in college guidance classes to second-semester juniors 
• Advise students on course selection and its impact on the college selection process

Administrative Responsibilities:

• Help prepare college admissions reports for the Board of Trustees and administrative team and help prepare an annual end-of-year report to the Board
• Manage digital College Counseling platforms (MaiaLearning, College Kickstart, Common Application, UCAS) 

Qualifications: 

• Bachelor’s degree required
• College counseling experience at an  independent secondary school preferred; experience with college admissions preferred
• Demonstrated counseling skills 
• Proven knowledge base of independent schools as well as U.S. colleges/universities, and the ability to reasonably predict college admissions decisions; knowledge of overseas programs a plus
• Strong communication/marketing, interpersonal, organizational, and decision-making skills
