Position Description
The Upper School library serves a diverse body of students, faculty, staff, and families, providing support to all segments of the community related to information literacy (research skills, readers advisory, media literacy, digital citizenship, technology, etc.). The Upper School Librarian in conjunction with the Upper School Director, will create, provide, and support programming and services to ensure best outcomes in academic, social, and community success and growth for students. Responsibilities
The Upper School Librarian, as directed by the Upper School Director, will oversee their assigned divisions’ student support needs by:

Providing a usable and inclusive library space and collection

Maintaining/developing expertise in current literature to better serve students

Keeping up with current research, trends, and issues in information literacy

Collaborate with faculty to facilitate research projects including: setting objectives, planning, instruction, and evaluation

Maintain a circulation of books

Communicate and collaborate with Technology Department to provide technology support for students and

Serving as an advisor for Upper School students

Exceptional communication skills, written and verbal

Serve as a strong supporter for diversity and inclusion and be a constant champion for student belonging

Maintain confidential information as appropriate

Other duties as assigned by the Head of School
Qualifications
Candidates will possess appropriate expertise and experience for an applicant able to perform the duties as outlined in this posting and deliver consistent and excellent outcomes.
Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related field and have some experience working in libraries with school-aged children. Preferred candidates will hold or be seeking a Master’s degree in a related field and hold significant experience working as a librarian for school-aged children in independent school settings.
Qualified candidates will possess a strong commitment to experiential education, serve as a champion of diversity and inclusion and cultural competency, possess the ability to inspire and challenge young people, the capacity to work cooperatively with peers, a keenness for working with school-aged children, a strong work ethic, and a joyful sense of humor. Candidates should be able to work flexibly with various educational technologies and an ability to navigate Google Google Workspace and Mac hardware/systems is preferred.
