Job Description: The PK-8 Physical Education Teacher is responsible for planning and implementing physical education activities, monitoring students, and evaluating student outcomes. Physical Education at Evansville Day School generally emphasizes sports-related skills, movement patterns, games, and fitness activities. The Physical Education Teacher records and maintains student information.
Key Responsibilities:
- Teach P.E. classes to Grades Pre-K – 8
- Evaluate students’ growth, keep appropriate records, and prepare narrative reports
- Participate in faculty, divisional, and departmental meetings
- Other duties as assigned by the Head of School, Assistant Head of School, Head of Middle School, and/or Head of Primary School
Qualifications:
- Four-year degree in education or related/relevant area
- Classroom or coaching experience
- Enjoys working with young people
- Innovative, flexible, relationship-focused
- Excellent work ethic, organizational, and interpersonal skills
- Appreciation for the unique character and special demands of working at an independent school
- Ability to work independently and collaborate as part of a team
- Ability to meet deadlines, balance competing priorities, and maintain a sense of humor
