Immediate Opening: Librarian, Full-time (1.0 FTE), 10 months, Exempt (salaried)
Barnesville School seeks a dynamic educator to join our faculty as a Librarian, beginning December 2023. This is a full-time 10-month position qualifying for full-time benefits.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage school-wide library operations, including budget, program, collection development, circulation, volunteer training/coordination, and physical space
- Provide instruction and support in the use of current research technology, online services, and traditional library materials
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to develop media literacy, research skills, and digital citizenship curricula
- Utilize and engage new technology, and assist other faculty integrate it into their classrooms
- Participate in curriculum development, faculty meetings, and professional growth endeavors
- Partner with parent association in coordinating fall Scholastic Book Fair and Grandfriends/Grandparents Day
- Participation in school-wide shared support duties and clubs will be required
We expect all faculty members to be fully engaged in the life and mission of the school, in and out of the classroom. The ability to lead or take part in enrichment classes, school committees, after school activities, athletic teams, and/or summer camp courses is desired.
Education and Experience: Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree (master’s preferred) in Library Science (MLS) or Library & Information Science (MLIS) and will possess 3-5 years’ experience in all aspects of library operations. The ideal candidate will also have experience utilizing differentiated instruction in an independent school environment and will have demonstrated ability to use technology successfully in the education of students.

Physical Requirements: Daily desk work including computer time; as part of daily routines, mobility around a campus with uneven pavement and managing stairs; standing, bending, and squatting as required to participate in classroom activities; shifting furniture as needed, lift/carry boxes up to 15 pounds; the ability to maneuver as necessary within a classroom setting; frequent walking inside and outside as part of general job duties and responding to students and/or incidents.
