Position Summary
The Director of Admissions at The Harvey School plays a pivotal role in shaping a diverse and inclusive community where students in grades 6-12 can excel academically in a nurturing environment that fosters academic excellence and personal growth. Reporting directly to the Head of School as a member of the school’s senior administrative team, the individual in this role is responsible for the identification, recruitment, admission, enrollment, and re-enrollment of students. In alignment with the school’s mission and values, the Director of Admissions collaborates with the admissions team and school leadership to implement admissions and financial aid strategies, develop marketing and outreach initiatives, and work towards achieving overall enrollment goals.

Primary Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise all activities related to admissions, enrollment management, and financial aid at The Harvey School.
- Plan, implement, and oversee the school’s strategic and day-to-day enrollment operations and ensure that the admissions process aligns with the mission and core values of the school.
- Develop, implement, and monitor plans and procedures to attract, recruit, enroll, and retain a diverse population of mission-aligned students.
- Supervise members of the admissions team to ensure that school and department objectives are fulfilled. This supervisory function includes the hiring, coaching, mentoring, professional development, and evaluation of staff.
- Collaborate with the admissions team, the faculty and administration, and parent ambassadors on an ongoing basis.
- Plan and execute admissions and enrollment events throughout the school year, including open houses, tours, classroom visits, and new family receptions.
- Communicate proactively and regularly with applicants and families.
- Interview student applicants and families year round.
- Oversee the development and preparation of all print and online admissions materials in concert with the school’s marketing and communications director to convey relevant, accurate, and targeted messaging to intended audiences.
- Cultivate relationships with sending schools and partner programs (e.g. REACH Prep, Prep 9, San Miguel, etc.) in the area and participate in local and regional recruitment fairs.
- Organize and chair Admissions Committee meetings.
- Prepare monthly statistical and informational reports for the administration and board. Monitor, analyze, and report enrollment statistics, analytics, and comparative data, including but not limited to dashboard metrics, admissions pipeline and yield rates, marketing strategies, enrollment trends, pricing, and student demographic information.
- Solicit and act upon feedback from applicants concerning their experiences with the admissions and enrollment process and collect input from departing families regarding their reasons for leaving.
- Collaborate closely with division heads to oversee and optimize the retention of current families.
- Collaborate with the Director of International Programs and liaise with external agencies to facilitate the enrollment of international students.
- Communicate all admissions decisions to applicant families and sending schools.
- Oversee the process of preparing, distributing, and collecting re-enrollment contracts for all returning students.
- Oversee the school’s need-based financial aid and scholarship processes and ensure that they remain confidential and free from bias and that admissions decisions are made without regard to an applicant family’s financial capacity.
- Participate in Fairchester, ISAAGNY, NYSAIS, and NAIS gatherings and workshops. Remain current with industry standards, including ISACS, NAIS, AISAP Principles of Good Practice for Admissions, and other best practices in admissions, enrollment management, and financial aid.

- Fulfill other responsibilities as determined by the Head of School.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree, ideally in an education-related field. Master’s degree preferred.
- Five or more years working in admissions, enrollment management, recruiting, marketing, sales, or a similar field, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of independent school education, philosophy, and practice.
- Desire to work in a cooperative environment and collaborate closely with colleagues and families.
- Possess proven strategic leadership abilities with a track record of building productive relationships, fostering consensus, and achieving program objectives.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Positive attitude, flexible approach, and a sense of humor.
