Job Description
The successful candidate is a highly collaborative, forward-thinking professional who will provide creative and targeted intervention and learning strategies to individuals and groups of students to support academic progress and build executive functioning skills using a Response to Intervention Framework. This individual possesses a sincere appreciation for partnering with students, families, and faculty in a 6 -12 setting.
Working in collaboration with and reporting to the Director of Student and Instructional Support, this key professional strives to develop and deliver an outstanding experience for students enrolled in Sewickley’s Learning Support Program. They will regularly collaborate with all members of the support services team as well as with faculty and administrators from both the Middle and Senior School divisions. This professional fosters positive relationships and dedicates themselves to our core principles of character, educational vigor, diversity, and community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Support Middle and Senior school students with learning strategies and executive functioning skills (studying, test taking, and note taking skills, organization, time management); provide individual and group instruction; and serve as a resource for faculty
- Collect and analyze data to inform impactful decision-making and provide strong support to students
- Use recommendations from psychoeducational evaluations to inform the development of appropriate strategies for intervention
- Attend and contribute actively to Support Team meetings in both divisions
- Collaborate with the faculty and student support team about students’ needs and progress
- Consult with teachers periodically to follow up on identified students, brainstorm academic strategies, and check in on student accommodations
- Coordinate intervention strategies with the student, family, and outside professionals
- Train students on how to access the online tutoring resource (Tutorme)
- Effectively promote and support the use of relevant technologies
- Remain current with best practices in the fields of student support services and diverse learners
- Demonstrate a desire for constant professional and personal growth by regularly participating in and seeking out professional learning opportunities
- Promote school life by sponsoring student clubs and activities and serving on academic committees
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in education, special education, or psychology required; Master’s degree with coursework and/or concentrations in special education preferred
- Experience with instructional coaching models, differentiated instruction strategies, Response to Intervention (RtI), and Multi-Tiered System of Support (MTSS)
- Experience assessing, teaching, or supporting high school/middle school students with learning difficulties, ADHD, and other neurodevelopmental differences
- Proven success working collaboratively with students, faculty, staff, parents, and school leaders
- Exceptional organizational, written, oral, and interpersonal skills and the ability to maintain confidentiality
