Holy Innocents’ Episcopal School is seeking a Head Volleyball Coach. The Coach is responsible for educating student athletes so that they achieve a high level of skill as well as an appreciation for discipline, sportsmanship, and teamwork in the volleyball program at HIES.
HIES is the largest Episcopal Parish day school in the country, offering a fully accredited college preparatory program for students age three through 12th grade. HIES is located north of downtown Atlanta between I-75 and GA 400.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains an efficient and competitive volleyball program
- Develops overall program objectives to enhance fundamental development of players at all levels
- Organizes, develops, and supervises the volleyball program for grades 7-12
- Manages the volleyball operational budget
- Monitors academic progress for all student-athletes in the volleyball program
- Supervises, evaluates, trains, and recruits assistant volleyball coaches
- Coordinates scheduling for all levels of the program
- Conducts pre- and post-season meetings with player personnel and all coaches and staff
- Plans and implements summer workouts
- Inventories and maintains all volleyball equipment and orders replacement equipment as needed
- Attends region and Georgia High School Association (GHSA) meetings as required
- Ensures compliance with GHSA rules and regulations
- Conducts and attends athletic department staff and coaching meetings
- Maintains professional growth through attendance of coaching clinics, conferences, college program visitation, and continued study
- Supports the school’s mission by fostering a love of learning, respect for self and others, a faith in God and a sense of service to the world community
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to travel locally and regionally on a year-round basis
- Utilizes knowledge of effective positive discipline behavior management methods on a consistent basis
- Demonstrates knowledge of child growth and development at each level of instruction and of the social, emotional, physical and cognitive development of adolescents
- Excellent organizational and communication skills (written and verbal)
- Ability to exercise good judgment and work in a dynamic environment
Educational and Other Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university
- Prior experience coaching in a successful college or high school volleyball program
- Ability to perform effectively as a classroom instructor and in an administrative role
- All teaching fields will be considered
