Trinity Episcopal School is currently seeking applications for the position of Director of Development.

The Director of Development is charged with strategically leading successful annual giving functions including the Annual Fund, Annual gala, and select special events. In addition, the position works in tandem with the Chief Development Officer (CDO) and supports all operations of the department. Under the direction of the CDO, the Director of Development ensures proper stewardship of volunteers, donors, and all members of the Trinity Community. This work is with special emphasis on a culture of philanthropy rooted in a gratitude and abundance mindset.
General Development Activities:
- In partnership with the CDO, identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward major and mid-level donors to
- Manage all budget activity in relation to annual giving functions and in partnership with CDO
- Oversight of mailing lists and status reports from Veracross database related to annual giving functions, as required and in partnership with Donor Relations Coordinator.
- In partnership with the CDO, create (as needed) protocols, best practice office standards, and guidelines for all development functions
- In partnership with the CDO, design a written annual fundraising plan in tandem with the overall three to five-year department plan.
- Oversight of donor recognition events and appreciation activities in accordance written institutional stewardship plan, as well as targeted activities designed to shift to a Trinity-wide culture of philanthropy
Annual Fund:
- Recruit and train volunteer parent, grandparent, and alumni committee chairs
- Train volunteers to make peer-to-peer solicitations
- Inform volunteers daily/weekly/as needed as gifts are received and guide them on the proper next steps in the solicitation and acknowledgment process
- Oversight for the annual brochure and all marketing letters/email/personal communication, keeping it fresh and on target year-to-year
- Customize the direct mail campaign to reflect the relationship of the constituent to the school
- Oversee related marketing activities
- Oversee the acknowledgment of donors in a timely and appropriate manner; Supervise Donor Relations Coordinator related to the campaign
- Increase alumni involvement in Annual Fund activities for cultivation and greater participation in alumni events, in partnership with the Alumni Relations Coordinator
Gala or Palooza-type event:
- Recruit and manage 40+ chairs and volunteers for event Examples include: Event Co-Chairs, Auction, Underwriting, Graphic Design, Raffle/Games, Auction Pick-up, Kid Connection, Make It Happen, Stewardship/Gratitude, Reservations, Décor, Set-up
- Direct and attend all gala committee meetings
- Manage (and protect!) the event budget
- Ensure programming, entertainment, and all fundraising facets of gala are in alignment with the four core values of Trinity
- Maintain high-level working relationships with all vendors (auctioneer, production, décor, rentals, entertainment, catering, etc.) and solicit for in-kind donations when appropriate
- Oversee all marketing materials: letters, emails, underwriting brochures, invitations, programs, donor acknowledgment signage, follow-up, etc.
- Manage chairs in the organization, procurement, and acknowledgment of all silent, online, and live auction items
- Manage the BidPal auction database process, a critical and time-intensive component vital to the success of Donor Relations Coordinator will carry much of the BidPal load but the Director needs to be in the know and have ultimate oversight
- Supervise Donor Relations Coordinator related to the event
- Confirm and arrange seating of all reservations, in partnership with CDO, HOS, and co-chairs
- Follow up with the community after the gala to thank and celebrate the success
Stewardship/Operations:
- Support the CDO in overseeing the operations of the department and thoughtful stewardship of
- Provide monthly content for Board reports to the CDO, and additional info as requested
- In partnership with the CDO, direct stewardship activities throughout the year, as well as other campus-wide events
- New Parent Dinner
- Celebration of Giving
- Other
- Assist CDO to advise parents and faculty on policies related to outside fundraising campaigns
- Field fundraising questions from internal stakeholders and outside constituents of Trinity
- Facilitate production of Annual Report in conjunction with CDO and development team members
And other duties as assigned.

Must have prior experience in fundraising, event management, donor relations and fundraising databases.
