Job Description:
Early Childhood classroom teams work together to build warm, respectful, and supportive relationships with children, and to cultivate a safe and stimulating learning environment. The Floating Sub is the first person teachers and assistants call when they will be absent or when they need temporary coverage. The Floating Sub builds relationships with all the teachers and can help create the foundation for a smoothly functioning classroom team by communicating openly and honestly with the teacher about his or her expectations about roles, duties, and classroom routines. Qualifications:
- Deep knowledge of early childhood development and current research-based practices
- Strong focus on the whole child with a social-emotional, anti-bias, and identity-based lens
- Ability to lead activities/lessons with groups of children
- Willingness to welcome children into the classroom and help with dismissal
- Be open to share observations and insights about children and activities with teaching team
- An inquiry stance towards teaching and learning with a strong belief in authentic student voice & choice
- Ability to be flexible with different teachers and different styles and a variety of schedules in all eight EC classrooms
- Willingness to build partnerships with families and colleagues
- Desire to grow as a practitioner through reading, collaboration, and professional development opportunities
- Organized and motivated to set a daily schedule with supervisor and be able to pivot if needed
- Preferred: Bachelor’s in Early Childhood or elementary education
- Required: Experience in an Early Childhood setting
