Job Title: Director of Human Resources
Division: Administration
Reports to: Chief Financial and Operating Officer
Summary:
King School is seeking an experienced human resource professional to ensure that our human resource programs and initiatives are effective and aligned with the School’s mission. The Director of Human Resources will be a hands-on administrator and improve human resource processes, implement strategies that support best practices, support effective hiring and employee retention, enhance safety and wellness, and serve as an effective representative of the School.
This role requires a detailed level understanding of HRIS, payroll and benefits administration, employee relations, policy creation and administration, employee recruiting, orientation, training, onboarding and off-boarding, and compliance. The Human Resources Office is comprised of two professional positions, including the Director of Human Resources and the Human Resources Manager. The Human Resources Manager reports to the Director of Human Resources.
Special Knowledge/Skills:
- Thorough knowledge of selection, training, recruiting, and supervision of personnel.
- Thorough knowledge of employment law, wage and salary practices, and performance review programs.
- Thorough knowledge of practices and techniques as they relate to position management, staff development and training, human resources policy development and administration, and employee relations.
General Responsibilities:
- Create and execute a plan for human resources in alignment with the School’s Strategic Plan, Mission, and Virtues.
- Provide investigative support, including, but not limited to, the coordination of investigations for allegations of employee misconduct, discrimination, harassment, and whistleblower complaints.
- Oversee the school’s compensation and performance evaluation programs.
- Oversee the development and revision of manuals, policies, and guidelines.
- Processing of the School’s bi-weekly payroll, the documentation and processing of additional compensation requests, and the reconciliation of payroll control accounts in the general ledger.
- Continue the ongoing transition to utilize Paylocity as an HRIS when appropriate.
- Meet regularly with health insurance and retirement plan consultants.
- Develop and implement effective recruiting strategies.
- Compile and maintain all reports, records, and other required documents
- Support the hiring and recruitment process, including the onboarding and offboarding of faculty and staff.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with federal and state laws and regulations such as FMLA, ADA, Sexual Harassment, OSHA, Worker’s Compensation, and ERISA.
- Maintain knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, talent management, and employment law.
- Administer benefit plans for more than 150 eligible employees: including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, healthcare savings and flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, and workers compensation.
- Oversee the annual worker’s compensation and 403(b) audits.
- Serve as the Plan administrator for King’s retirement plans; ensuring compliance with IRS, DOL, and ERISA guidelines.
- Other duties as assigned.
Core Qualifications and Credentials:
- Bachelor’s Degree required, Master’s Degree in a related field preferred.
- Advanced certification in Human Resources preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of experience in human resource management, preferably within an educational or nonprofit setting.

- Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.
