Position Description
Randolph School seeks STEM Coordinator to begin in August 2024. The STEM Coordinator will serve as an ambassador for promoting STEM educational opportunities on both campuses by supporting and collaborating with classroom teachers to develop curriculum that incorporates STEM activities. The coordinator will be responsible for the design, set-up, and instruction of STEM lessons. Additionally, the coordinator will lead Randolph’s outreach efforts to connect Randolph students to existing STEM opportunities and to connect the wider community with STEM opportunities at Randolph.
Essential Functions
Acquire and organize equipment and materials within the STEM classroom suitable for a multi-age environment
- Establish and document effective classroom procedures and safety guidelines for the STEM classroom
- Design and teach STEM classes in collaboration with grade and subject teachers
- Collaborate with middle school Design Engineering faculty and teach 1-2 sections of Design Engineering
- Create a skill-based curriculum to support and supplement STEM skills in collaboration with science, math, and technology teachers
- Promote and coordinate cross-curricular opportunities in the STEM classroom
- Utilize techniques and pedagogical best practices of design thinking and project-based learning to enhance students’ critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Provide verbal and written feedback and assessment for students
- Plan and implement annual interdisciplinary events (STEAMfest, speaker series, etc.) as well as outreach/admissions opportunities to engage prospective students and families
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in education or STEM-related field
- Relevant classroom teaching experience
- Experience with project-based learning and design thinking
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree
- Experience using technology to enhance learning
- Ability to write and analyze computer code
- Proven record of success leading a new initiative from idea to implementation
