Washington Episcopal School in Bethesda, MD seeks a dynamic, energetic and flexible physical education (P.E.) Teacher/Coach to join our Athletic Department as a long-term substitute, with the possibility of the position becoming permanent.
The qualified candidate will help plan, organize and deliver lessons consistent with the WES Athletic and School Philosophies in the classroom as well as the playing fields. There is a focus on participation, cooperation and skill acquisition that furthers motor, cognitive, and physical skills.
Qualified candidates will have excellent leadership and communication skills, the ability to work on a team and will take on the following duties:
- Work together with PE staff to enhance the PE program.
- Plan and teach PE classes for Pre-Kindergarten 3 – Grade 4
- Coach and/or teach PE during fall, winter and spring season for grades 5-8
- Track student progress and complete repost cards and comments when scheduled.
- Communicate effectively with parents as needed
- Contribute to the life of the school and it’s community by being involved
- Work collaboratively with classroom teachers to support the social and emotional needs of students

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in physical education or similar discipline
- Experience with children, preferably in a school setting
- Experience coaching multiple sports
- Interest in working in a team setting in a diverse school community
- Effective communication skills both oral and written
- Experience using standard office equipment and school technology
- Ability to work collaboratively as a member of a team
- A passion for promoting childhood and lifelong activity and wellness
